Osmotic pumps may be used in continuous-delivery experiments to maintain a constant flow of administered drugs or hormones. This videotape shows surgical techniques for subcutaneous implantation and interperitoneal implantation of osmotic pumps, and use of a catheter with the pumps through intragastric infusion, jugular intravenous infusion, or cranial/cerebral infusion. Also demonstrated is the technique for creating and using a reservoir coil with the pump for experiments involving the use of alternating agents.
