An attractive and useful magazine which provided much information for farmers on a wide variety of subjects--discussions of agricultural and horticultural methods, agricultural products, animals and their diseases, as well as recipes, cures for illness, and household hints for farmers' wives. In addition, it published Miami Valley Agricultural Society Reports, answered letters, reported on fairs, and included biography, moral essays, and short pieces on history. Full-page illustrations embellished the text. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
