Dr. Benjamin Smith Barton, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, conducted his medical and scientific journal for four years. The first section contained original papers on medicine and on various scientific subjects--natural science, geography, agriculture, and archaeology. The medical papers dealt with yellow fever epidemics, and other types of fevers, as well as with other medical problems and treatments. Other sections of the magazine provided biographical sketches of physicians, reviews of new medical and scientific publications, and miscellaneous items of interest.
