"General Burgoyne's proclamation" is from the Providence Gazette of Aug. 16th, 1777. The account of the death of Jane M'Crea consists of a letter from Asa Fitch (published in the Proceedings of the Historical Society of New Jersey, v.5, p.164) and some extracts from Charles Neilson's account of Burgoyne's campaign.
