Copy negatives, circa 1916, intended for the production of lantern slides to accompany a rendition (presumably schoolchildren singing) of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The 11 glass plate negatives, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 each with surprinted verses of the song, consist of inspirational landscapes, sunrise, military campfires, rows of steel (rifles), marching feet, St. Michael, cavalry trumpet, lilies, head of Jesus Christ, and the United States flag. From the school services project of the University of Wisconsin Bureau of Visual Education.
