Photographs documenting moving the Gates of Heaven Synagogue to James Madison Park, Madison, Wisconsin, in 1971. The synagogue was built in 1863 from Victorian Romanesque designs by August Kutzbock. It was the first synagogue in Madison and is the third oldest surviving synagogue building in the United States. In 1971, the building was moved from 214 West Washington Avenue to James Madison Park.
