Papers and photographs of Wallace Kirkland (1891-1979) who became well-known as a Life Magazine photographer. The collection includes correspondence, publications to which he contributed, personal writings, financial information, memorabilia, and prints, negatives, and other visual formats mainly documenting his personal work and family. Some photographs are from his early work as director of the Men's and Boys' Club at Hull House in Chicago in the 1920s, a trip to India for a Life story in 1940, and his personal work in photographing nudes. They also include images of artist Robert Rauschenberg working. Some images were made in Wisconsin, especially in Milwaukee and Door County.
