Legislative papers, mainly 1985-1990, of a Democratic Assemblyman from Wabena, Wisconsin. Included are constituent correspondence, speeches, newsletters, clippings about Volk's legislative activities, and subject files about legislation concerning a variety of statewide and district topics such as the lumber industry and Menominee Indian treaty rights. Additional files relate to his co-chairmanship of the Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems and the Retirement Research Committee, 1985-1988. About his JSCRS responsibilities there are handwritten notes; memoranda prepared by Blair Testin, director of the RRC; testimony and information on bills that dealt with early retirement of teachers and public employees and divestment of state holdings in South Africa; and correspondence with S.T.O.P. and other opponents and proponents of legislation concerning retirement benefits.
