Video of a lecture delivered by Dr. Peter Singer from Monash University, Australia, as part of the University of Wisconsin Distinguished Lecture series. Dr. Singer discusses the moral and ethical concerns of the legal separation in treatment between human and nonhuman primates. Singer cites various humane and inhumane treatments towards monkeys and apes in zoos, the medical field, and American court systems. He also discusses the Animal Liberation Action Group. The Great Ape Project is proposed as a way of dissolving the inequality between humans and nonhuman primates by granting basic human rights to apes. The video also includes approximately 30 minutes of Q&A in which Dr. Singer answers questions.
