At the age of 10, two troubled and emotionally confused young boys drag a like-aged girl under a bridge and murder her. Brought to trial and known only as Boy A and Boy B, they are locked up by society for their heinous crimes for as long as the law allows, and the media spurns them as vicious monsters. Years later, Boy A is released from prison and looking for a new start. Now he is Jack, and in this new identity tries to integrate himself into a society he now finds unfamiliar and a bit terrifying. He's had no practice at hanging out with the boys at clubs or asking girls out on dates, and pop culture references sail over his head. But Jack is a gentlemanly sort--albeit in a forced, petrified way--and whatever bad deeds he's done in the past, he's ready to be shut of them. If only the rest of the world would let him.
