Photographs, 1890-1960, created by the Arms family, an African-American family living in Wisconsin, first Southwestern Wisconsin and later in Madison, since the mid-19th century. The photographs were collected by Lewis Rudolph Arms, and provide documentation of his life, including his childhood and military service during World War 2. Other members of the Arms family are also well represented, and most photos have descriptions indicating who is pictured and when and where the picture was taken.
