This volume includes selected research essays that examine how playwrights in Spain confront the social, cultural, and political conflicts that foster a sense of heightened dystopia and undermine utopian ideals. Essay topics include xenophobia, domestic violence, racism, gender diversity, immigration, and economic inequality, and are richly complemented by the addition of personal reflections and commentaries by the playwrights who attended the symposium.
