The testimony of Camilo de Sousa as he talks with some of his fellows shines a light on the fight for independence of Mozambique and on the hardship of what came next. In the early 1970s, Camilo de Sousa joined the FRELIMO guerrillas, first at the Nachingwea training camp and then in the national liberation struggle. Now, as a film director, he has returned to Mozambique to meet comrades-in-arms from his time with FRELIMO. Together with Aleixo Caindi and Julião Papalo, he recalls their time together as leaders in the efforts to build a nation, when the initial joy of liberation gave way to political infighting.
