A history of Frente a frente [Face to Face] (1934-1938), the organ of expression of the League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists (LEAR), an organization inseparable from the Communist Party of Mexico and its magazine El Machete. Whereas El Machete disseminated the activities and thought of the party, Frente a frente was oriented towards art and literature and operated as an expression not only of an association of militant intellectuals and fellow travelers, but also of international movements led by Moscow and administered by the International Union of Revolutionary Writers and Artists.
