The saxophone has always been either ridiculed or considered Satan's very own instrument. Banned by the Nazis and the communists, there seems to be a curse surrounding this instrument. From Charlie Parker to Jimmy Heath, many of the great players seem to have lost their souls to its charm and some even claim that playing the sax is like dancing with the devil. This video traces the history of the saxophone from its beginnings in the workshop of the eccentric inventor Adolphe Sax to the giants of Bebop and to contemporary innovative approaches. We even meet Jazz legend Giuseppi Logan, who had long been considered lost and who also suffered from the curse of the saxophone.
