Memorial diary of about 50 pages by Mary Bacon about her daughter Sarah who died February 9, 1847 at the age of 5. Entries are about her daughter's life and personality. Included are manuscript transcriptions of the death notice in local newspapers, a lock of Sarah's hair and a lock of Allie P. Bacon's hair, transcriptions of the death notices of Mary Baker Bacon's parents with locks of their hair, religious poems and verses on the loss of a child, newspaper and magazine clippings on the death of a child and other miscellaneous subjects. The last entry is a poem written four years later. Many blank pages. Laid in at front is a small folded paper of hair labeled WIlliam Meacham's Hair Febry 22, 1852.
