Volume 1 establishes the framework for community-engaged public health research by citing studies that demonstrate the benefits of scholar/community partnerships. The scope of academics and community partners involved represent public health, psychology, public policy, economics, medicine, nutrition, and geography, as well as community leaders such as grassroots partners, residents, medical practitioners, non-profit heads, and policymakers. This diverse, interdisciplinary approach will expand the reach of the scholarly research to help position the study to make both a scholarly contribution and a change within regulatory and policy arenas"--
