Wind-tunnel results on end-plate effects on the aerodynamic characteristics of an unswept and untapered wing of aspect ratio 4 are presented, and experimental values of the end-plate effects on the lift-curve slope and induced drag are determined and compared with theory. Expressions are developed for the lift-drag and maximum lift-drag ratios and results compared with calculated values. A theoretical analysis is presented to indicate the effect of factors influencing the lift-drag and maximum lift-drag characteristics.
