Among the few allusions to mid-first millennium BCE scribal culture are the Aramaic Story of Ahiqar and the Hebrew Tale of Jeremiah and Baruch's Scroll (Jeremiah 36). This study provides a novel interpretation of both tales and proposes a newly identified literary subgenre to which they belong by studying the sources independently for their allusions to scribal culture and comparatively for their literary features.
