The texts included in this book "are the outcome of a selection of works presented, in their first version, in the IX Congreso Internacional e Interdisciplinario "Alexander von Humboldt y los viajeros por Yucatán", que tuvo lugar en el Centro Peninsular en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, in November 2018. In this meeting, more than 200 travel scholars from different parts of the world gathered in the Yucatan Peninsula to dialogue, in an interdisciplinary way, about travel and travelers. The dialogue was very enriching and some papers were chosen to be developed and deepened by their authors in order to shape the text that the reader has in his hands today.
