Memoir of Paul Fichter entitled "The Vietnam Conflict Era: A Contrarian Perspective." The memoir follows his personal experiences after being drafted in 1966, beginning with basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky to a two-year tour of duty in South Vietnam serving in Military Police Battalions. He writes about the effects American soldiers had on local communities, mortar and rocket attacks and exposures to tear gas, and struggles with shifting leadership. The second half of his memoir, Fichter reflects on his experiences in Vietnam, his transition back to civilian life, and his activism and involvement with Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
