In the course of his decades of work on "Church Dogmatics", Karl Barth has repeatedly rewritten shorter and longer passages, which he had given in his lecture, for the printed version, used in a different, later context, or initially rejected them. The texts edited here therefore offer explanations on topics that are no longer taken up in the KD, and are therefore only dealt with here. Extensive preparatory work has been preserved, particularly on sections 42-44, including the controversial sections "God and the Gods" or "Faith and the Weltanschauungen" written against the background of the Second World War, but also shorter and fragmentary texts, for example on the Barmen theological Explanation, on the subject of nuclear weapons, stupidity or humor. This volume offers a unique insight into Barth's way of working.
