The finite-difference method of calculating elastic stresses in gas-turbine disks, presented in NACA TN No. 1279, is extended to include consideration of plastic flow and creep. Illustrative examples including the calculation of stresses during one turbine-operating cycle and stresses in a disk with central hole are presented.
The results of the numerical examples presented indicate qualitatively that plastic flow markedly alters the elastic-stress distribution and that, if the amount of creep is small, the effect on stress distribution is also small.
