This animation, told simply through pictures and without dialogue, provides an opportunity for imaginative and descriptive writing for KS2 children. The video could also be used to imagine and predict what happened before and after the narrative. Children can enjoy exploring vocabulary and playing with words to create their own mysterious adventure or to write an account of what happens to Lily. There are also chances to discuss themes of health and safety, risk-taking and friendship. Lily and Ermine is about a mysterious encounter a young girl has with an animal in the woods. She notices a dead bird in the snowy field and a trail of paw prints leading towards the woods. Should she go in? She follows the trail and spots an ermine - the bird killer! Lily is intrigued, climbs the tree to get a closer look and falls onto the snowy ground. The ermine revives Lily, scampering to safety as she recovers. She retraces the paw print trail out of the woods as the snow begins to fall again.
