Loan, a teacheress from Hà Nội, is teaching at a village school in Northern Vietnam. Hùng, the brother of her colleague, is unemployed. Although falling in love with Loan, but he has to leave the country for a rich life abroad. During holiday times, Loan meets Tuấn, an old friend of hers, and accepts his marriage proposal.
