In the Australian Outback, a vast sea of rolling plains under an intense blue sky, temperatures soar to over 120 degrees in the shade and drought is not so much a natural disaster as a fact of life. Yet the red kangaroo has adapted to this harsh environment. Following a group of animals over a period of 18 months, this film reveals the secrets of the kangaroo's success: how they feed, mate, fight, give birth and raise their young. Other central characters include one of the world's biggest eagles, and one of the animals most feared by man the dingo.
