Annotation on Thomason copy: first leaf (otherwise blank, [supplied by Thomason ?]): "A new confession of faith, or the first Principles of the Christian Religion necessary to bee laid as a foundation by all such as desired to build on unto Perfection. Represented by a Committee of Divines (according to special order) unto the grand Committee for Religion as fitt to bee owned by all such Ministers as are or shall be allowed to receive the Publique Maintenace for their Worke in the Ministry. Propunded to the the Parliament by ye said grand Committee Decemb. 12 1654. and printed by ... order of Parliament and for the ... aforesaid. With great difficultie I did obtaine this ... for it was never sould, but a few printed and committed to ye hands fo some minister, and from ye hands of one of them I got it.".
Annotation on Thomason copy: second leaf (otherwise blank, [supplied by Thomason ?]) "This was presented to said Member of that Parliament which began the 3d of September 1654 and was dissolved 22 January next following., composed by divers Complying Ministers of which Dr Francis Cheynell was one, . It was never published publiquely. Animadversions was mad upon ye said, by Mr. James Cranford, that .. Learned Divine, but not published, in January. 1654.".
