Dan's father suffered from Schizophrenia, and since his father's suicide, he now wonders whether he has the condition himself. Dan describes instances where his thoughts were jumbled together, and experiencing confusion, often coinciding with family and school issues. Dan says this confusion occurs when he's under the influence of marijuana, but claims that it happens more frequently when he's not under the influence. Based on his responses to the assessment, Dan does not experience symptoms such as a belief that people can read his mind or know what his thoughts are; he does not hear sounds that aren't there, and does not believe that he can read other people's minds. When alone, Dan sometimes feels like someone is out to get him, usually coinciding with "hitting the bong pretty hard" and consuming edible marijuana products. The feelings of paranoia do not persist, however, when Dan is not smoking. Dan's father also had many of the symptoms which has made Dan fearful of his own risk for schizophrenia. Dan further describes a lack of friends, having feelings that he's being judged, and that people think he's "the crazy guy's son." The two main issues that Dan is experiencing are primarily rooted in family trauma and his marijuana use.
