Comilation of poetry by Manuel Rueda (1921-1999), Dominican poet, pianist and playwright. He was a member of the literary group "La Poesia Sorprendida" and later founded Pluralismo. He was the director of the "Hoy" newspaper's cultural supplement "Isla Abierta", as well as the director of the Dominican National Music Conservatory for 20 years. He received numerous literary prizes through his career including the National Literature Prize in 1994, the Condecoracion al Merito de Duarte, Sanchez y Mella (the Duarte, Sanchez and Mella Decoration of Merit) in the degrees of "Caballero" (1977) and of "Comendador" (1997). In 1995 he was awarded the Premio Tirso de Molina in Madrid for his play "Retablo de Pasión y Muerte de Juana La Loca".
