CBS News and the Los Angeles Times cooperated in conducting a survey of California voters on primary election day, June 6, 1978. As they left the polling place, 2,482 randomly selected voters were asked to fill out a questionnaire. Respondents were queried regarding how they had voted on Proposition 13, the reasons for their vote, and how they felt the proposition would affect the state. Preferences for gubernatorial candidates were also elicited. Demographic information includes age, sex, race, political orientation, religion, education, income, length of residence in California, and labor union affiliation.
