This collection consists of photographs, negatives, and slides taken by Roger Turner beginning in the 1960s and continuing up through 1997. During his career, Turner covered many events including the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, as well as several presidential campaigns throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He worked as the chief photographer for the Wisconsin State Journal beginning in 1966, before retiring in 1997. At the end of the 20th century, Turner was honored by The Associated Press for a photograph Turner had taken in 1986 of the Massey family, a farming family who had just lost their farm. Turner's photograph of the Massey family leaving the Iowa County Courthouse was named one of the "Wisconsin Photographs of the Century" by The Associated Press. Turner also co-wrote the book, Wisconsin's Historic Courthouses, which is a combination of Turner's original photographs and historic photographs of Wisconsin courthouses that have been demolished.
