Typewritten note attached to map: "This map hung in the office of the Gauleiter, in the Gauhaus in Strasbourg that was the German headquarters of the Baden and Alsace-Lorraine Districts. The French troops under General LeClerc shot the Gauleiter 3 weeks earlier, when they liberated Strasbourg in mid-December 1944 (pre-Bulge). Other copies of the map went to Churchill and to the U.S. OSS collection in Washington, D.C. Coll., J.W. Wells."
