This book presents as central subject the Kaingang politics, centering into the Kaingang Indians from Rio da Várzea Indigenous Territory (RS) region, also known as Penhkár. Considering that the political domain goes beyond the public and masculine plans of actuation, descriptions focused on the domestic domain and the sociability plan are carried out, putting in evidence the mechanisms through which the Indians concentrate relationships, reveal political prominences, and then constitute leadership figures and sociopolitical unities. Themes as war, factionalism, authority, chiefness and coercion are revisited out of readings of historical records and the criticism that emerges from this ethnography. Finally, a reflection about the indigenous mimicry of the "white" juridical and punitive systems is presented, proposing connections with the Kaingang affinity issue.
