Covers made from heavy brown cardboard. Front cover has white paper, printed with black illustration covering most of cardboard backing; above that, a black piece of paper with strips cut out of it, looking like Venetian blinds, allows drawing beneath to peek through; attached to black sheet on right side, and across the top, brown paper window frame overhangs front cover; butterfly cut from white paper printed with black is pinned to the side piece with a straight pin on lower edge; top part has serrated wheel of white paper printed in black with author's name from which a piece of wood emerges, with a chip of ceramic tile glued to it; verso of this piece has individual copy number in ball-point ink. At top of "blinds" a shade of white paper printed with black is folded up accordion-style, with thin stiff light brown cord threaded through holes in the sides and tied in a bow at the top; folded, one sees the publisher "Vigía" facing out; unfolded, the part facing outward has illustration of a man's face with a brown paper archer collaged on his head; verso has information about the poetry prize which the book was awarded. Back cover has collage of white paper printed with black in form of Vigía lamp with archer sitting at top of lamp chimney covering his eyes with his hands; publisher and series title are worked into the design. Lamp's flame is formed by a small rock pasted on top of a piece of corrugated cardboard, a rectangle of coarsely woven fabric, and an eye-shaped piece of red construction paper. Back cover flap has collaged paper with prize information; front cover flap has folded piece of white paper with author information. Decorative endpapers with title and author's name in desgn at front and back. Preliminary pages are white with black illustrations and lettering; text on brown paper with decorative borders, following illustrated brown page with edges cut in serrated pattern.
