Maps cover parts of northwestern Wisconsin, primarily in Oneida, Vilas, Forest, Langlade, Iron, Lincoln, and Price Counties, and they most commonly feature the following railroads: Chicago and North Western Railroad (C&NW), the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul [later Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific] Railroad (CMStP&P), the Wisconsin Central Ltd. (WCL), and the Soo Line Railroad (SOO). The collection includes right-of-way, abandonment, track, station, and village maps. The majority are large-scale, blue-line prints, sometimes showing details such as warning and railroad devices, fencing, roads, warehouses, lots, landowners, and land use. Map dates range from approximately 1900 to the 1970s.
