"In August 1964, a disheveled band of motorcyclists opened a makeshift clubhouse on Milwaukee's near north side. Initially, local law enforcement viewed the Outlaws Motorcycle Club (OMC) as an enigma. Over the course of the next decade, however, the club became synonymous with acts of intimidation and violence. In the ruthless world of renegade bikers, the OMC's Milwaukee chapter became known as the Wrecking Crew. This thesis will address a critical gap concerning the development of Wisconsin's only major outlaw motorcycle gang (OMG), the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, from 1964-2000. To do so, this inquiry will address the following: The historical evaluation of the outlaw biker subculture; the metamorphosis of the OMC in Wisconsin; the relationship between the Milwaukee chapter of the OMC and law enforcement; and whether the criminal activities of the OMC's members are relative to those of an organized crime group or an urban terrorist network." -page iii
