The report discusses the overall economic evaluation of a process developed by The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Co. with emphasis on the use of the low-sulfur, ashless product as a power plant fuel for areas having restrictions on emission of sulfur dioxide to the atmosphere. The basic objective of the evaluation is to determine the selling price of the de-ashed coal product required to yield an adequate return on capital investment. Although the removal of both ash and sulfur are significant features, the process is generally referred to as a coal de-ashing process.
