In 1994 when Marie (Waukechon) Frechette’s was interviewed at the age of 91, she reminisced about growing up in Keshena, Wisconsin, including Menominee social customs, socio-economic conditions and education. Marie Frechette Bowan discussed her experiences as an employee of the Menominee Tribal Forestry Department. The musician playing the flute music wishes to remain anonymous. The Menominee love songs and lullabies played on the flute are based on music documented by Frances Densmore in his 1932 U.S. Government Publication, Menominee Music (Smithsonian Institution. Bureau of Ethnology, Bulletin 102.)
