- Includes a pamphlet printed at the time of the gift donation that contains an obituary, a eulogy, family genealogy, and selections from the writings of Frechette: a history of the tribe, essays on Menominee Indian Advisory Council, 1928-1958, and on Amos Striker, and a chronology of selected events relating to the Menominee Tribe.
- James G. Frechette was the son of Josephine and Charles Frechette, was born August 22, 1900 in Keshena, Wis., and died February 9, 1980 in Shawano, Wis. He was a graduate of St. Norbert's College, De Pere, Wis., and was employed by the Menominee Indian Mills as a forester in the U.S. Civil Service. Frechette held many tribal offices, including vice chairman of the Menominee Indian Study Committee and a member of Menominee Enterprises. He also served as a Menominee tribal representative on various congressional committees and with several U.S. government agencies, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was active in tribal politics during the Menominee Nation termination period.
