Of Human Bondage is a feature length film starring Bette Davis (Mildred) and Leslie Howard (Philip). Sensitive and club-footed Philip Carey leaves Paris for London to pursue a career in medicine. He falls in love with haughty and cold waitress Mildred, and despite his obvious affection for her, she rejects him. Mildred returns to Philip several times, each time manipulating him into helping her and ruining Philip's chances at a career in medicine and attempts at having a normal relationship. Philip finally resolves to move on with his life, only to receive word that Mildred is dying.
