Diary begins on June 21. Beatrice describes the trip from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia with her friends Minnie Hartman, Helen [Nell?] Nichols, and Daisy Boyd, the ship's ("Pennland") departure on June 22, suffering from sea-sickness and bad food, seeing the coasts of Ireland (July 3) and Wales (July 4), landing at Liverpool (July 4). Beatrice describes the city of Liverpool (riding an electric tram and a street train) and travelling to Chester. Diary ends July 5th, 1895.

- Includes handwritten inscription on rear flyleaf: "Beatrice Hottel, 1735 F. St. N.W., Washington, D.C., U.S.A. Please forward if lost."
- Beatrice Hottel was born on June 22, 1873 to Martin Vanburen Hottel (1837-1915) and Julia Howe Gove (1849-1924) in York County, Maine. The family moved to Washington, D.C. by 1880. Beatrice married John Eastlack Taylor (1873-) on February 18, 1902 and divorced on September 25, 1924. They had two sons: John Eastlack Taylor, Jr. (1904-) and Richard Prentiss Taylor (1907-1991). Beatrice died on November 17, 1953 in Arlington, Virginia.
- Diary includes itinerary, lists of sites seen, and various expenses, indicating that Beatrice travelled to England, Wales, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands before returning to Liverpool and sailing home on the "Belgenland" (September 25).
