An extensive catalogue of garden plants, edible, medical and ornamental, by an enthusiastic amateur and cultivateur. Alphabetically arranged, each plant is given a name in French, Latin or (usually) both, with brief notes of medical use, cultivation, appearance, taste, or quality. Fruits are especially well represented with: apricots (11 named varieties), melons (7 varieties), peaches (39 varieties), pears (92 varieties) and apples (33 varieties), but there is also a rich and appetizing crop of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Though confined to plants grown in France, there are numerous exotics with several varieties described as American or Canadian.
