Diary of Helen Marguerite Shaw of Bayshore Drive, East Toledo, Ohio. She is in eighth grade when the diary begins and turns 14 on February 17. She writes mostly of her own activities which include house and yard work, school, church, social activities with girl and boy friends. Her entries end abruptly on September 17. The entries record all of her activities in a day, giving a picture of the life of an active school girl at the time. Her father is ill from April through the following year but she only mentions that briefly. She has a younger sister, Dorothy, who is almost never mentioned. On the pages for September 18-21 are entries she wrote years later summarizing fall 1932 and mentioning a few events of 1932-1933. Laid in are two leaves of diary entries for September 14-October 2, 1936, in which she leaves for college (within driving distance), is very unhappy, and wants to go home. Pasted in at front is a photograph of her.
