A commonplace book compiled as a daily diary or calendar by an intelligent, lively young woman. Entries for many days are brief passages and quotations from well-known writers, many illustrated with drawings or tipped-in photographs. She quotes Sarah Orne Jewett, Zona, Gale, Lucy Larcom, Louise Chandler Moulton, Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, among many others. Most entries are hand printed, a few in cursive, all in ink. Many entries are humorous or make a satirical comment, including several on the automobile. Some days are quotations from an 1886 [fictional?] diary by a child named Daisy, who is likely the adult author of this volume. September 19 has a photograph of a young woman at a desk captioned: "Is Daisy writing a book? ... She is merely making a calendar and these are some of the accessories." June 10 has a photograph captioned "Roy, Elizabeth and I floating along the beautiful Sabbattus stream"
