The theatrical cartoon series was produced from 1972-1984 by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. All the shorts were written by John W. Dunn. The shorts featured the Blue Racer, which is a blue snake and, as the name implies, he can slither incredibly fast. In this episode the Japanese Beetle helps the lonely Blue Racer make friends with humans. Beetle tries everything from making him a pet who can sing and do tricks, disguising him as a dog, and joining a hippie parade. However, all plans fail.
