This collection reflects Arthur Hove's work as an author, involvemnt with the art department at UW-Madison, and work with various Chancellors and the Provost office.
The Warrington Colescott collection contains photos, negatives, correspondence, drafts, exhibition invitations and announcements related to the work of Warrington Colescott. Photos and negatives contani family and faculty images. The collection also includes several drafts of materials written by Colescott such as sections from Progressive Printmakers, his memoir "Post-War Prints: A Memoir from a Player", and interviews likely used in his work with Arthur Hove. Correspondence included in this collection pertains to various art shows, press, art critiques, and other discussions. The correspondence also inlcudes greeting cards with original prints created by Colescott and his wife. There are also two photocopied reproductions of his artworks Dillinger: The Battle at Little Bohemia and Judgement Day at NEA. An additional folder included in this collection is related to the life and work of his younger brother, Robert Colescott (1925-2009), who identified as an African American and worked as a painter.

- Warrington Wickham Colescott Jr.(1921-2018) earned his bachelor's (1942) and master's (1947) from the University of California: Berkley. Between these two degrees, he served in the Army in 1942 completing tours in Japan and Korea. In 1949 he joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison Art Department where he taught painting and printmaking. Colescott also spent time at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and l'Academie de la Grand Chaumière in Paris. He recieved a Fulbright Fellowship in 1956, the National Endowment for the Art Printmaking Fellowship in 1957, and National Endowment for the Arts Artists Fellowships in 1979 and 1983. Colescott also ran the Magenta Press with his wife Frances Myers (1936-2014), a fellow artist, and also authored "Progressive Printmakers: Wisconsin Artists and the Print Renaissance" in partnership with Arthur Hove. .

- The original accesion recod denotes Colescotts brother as the source of donation. This is unlikely as his brother, Robert Colescott was decesased at the time of accesion. It is likely that these materials were gathered by Warrington Colescott and Arthur Hove. Much of the correspondence in the collection is addressed to Hove and marked with notices of receipt, some of them are marked by the provost office stamp.
