Oral history of Viola Rengstorff, interviewed by her son Peter Rengstorff. Viola recounts family history; life on a farm in rural Spring Green, Wisconsin; leaving for Milwaukee State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) teaching in one-room schools in Arena and Spring Green and at elementary schools in South Milwaukee; and attending summer school at the University of Wisconsin. Her memories of Spring Green include reaction to the Taliesin fire and murders in 1914, her mother's friendship with Olgivanna Wright, her acquaintance with Frank Lloyd Wright's sister Jane Porter, and social gatherings with the apprentices at Taliesin in the 1930s.
