Color photographs of twelve period rooms with costumed mannequins illustrating activities of women in Wisconsin from 1800 to 1940. The rooms were installed in the Women's Building at State Fair Park for the Wisconsin Centennial Exposition in 1948 and prepared by the Committee on Wisconsin Women. The photographs were made by Pahlman Studios in Milwaukee, Wis. Also included is text about some of the settings and the costumes featured. Included are panels depicting a woodland Indian wigwam, an 1836 territorial bedroom, an 1856 kindergarten at Watertown, a kitchen in 1860, a Soldiers' Aid Society workroom in 1864, an 1874 law office, the Alexander Mitchell dining room in 1880, a bridal parlor in 1887, an 1895 Victorian bedroom, a women's club parlor in 1905, suffragettes in a parlor in 1917, and a living room in 1948. Some of the costumes are from the collection of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin.
