Typescript copy of an account of the life of Carl John Linguist of Rio (Wis.) by his daughter, Vernettie C. Bennett. Carl Linquist, an immigrant from Sweden, served in the Civil War in the 12th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, Co. G. The biographical sketch describes his coming to America at the age of 14, settling in the Madison (Wis.) area, his engagements in the war including the Siege of Vicksburg and the Langworthy Expedition, and his life after the war. Also included is a letter sent to members of Linquist's regiment following his death as well as a photograph of Linguist and one of his wife.
