Papers of Lonnie R. Hinds (1905-1985), comptroller of the International Harvester Company of the Philippines at the time of the Japanese invasion during World War II. Hinds, his wife Mildred, and their children Bob and Julie along with 14 other IHC employees were imprisoned for the duration of the Japanese occupation in a prison camp at the University of Santo Thomas in Manila. The papers concern this experience and include photocopies of letters, reports, clippings, and the diary Hinds kept while imprisoned from December 1941 to March 1945. Among other details, Hinds describes his efforts to protect company property, starvation conditions in the camp, and the battle for Manila and their subsequent rescue. Five photographs are also included.
